Getting to know WMMA via Twitter Series: SchenkMMA
Well to get this series started we thought to show everyone how it would work we would go ahead and do the process on ourselves first. So on Monday we selected a SchenkMMA follower. That will be us this week. Then we e-mailed our 5 questions to the selected follower. We got our answers to the questions back on Thursday (Can you believe it took those people at SchenkMMA 3 days to get us their answers back? I mean really what are they so busy doing?). Then we posted the answers to their questions on Friday. So just so everyone knows this will be the process going forward and please keep checking back each week to see who will be spotlighted on the site from week to week. Our answers are posted below.
SchenkMMA Martial Art Series: The Art of Judo
Judo or Jūdō (柔道 jūdō?, meaning "gentle way") is a modern martial art and combat sport created in Japan in 1882 by Kano Jigoro. Its most prominent feature is its competitive element, where the object is to either throw or takedown one's opponent to the ground, immobilize or otherwise subdue one's opponent with a grappling maneuver, or force an opponent to submit by joint locking or by executing a strangle hold or choke. Strikes and thrusts by hands and feet as well as weapons defences are a part of judo, but only in pre-arranged forms (kata) and are not allowed in judo competition or free practice (randori).
For more information on the history and details of Judo please go to this Link.
Now that we have a better idea of what Judo is and what a Judo practionioner is trying to achieve let get some feed back from some modern day female MMA fighters to see how they have taken this ancient martial art and adapted it and changed it to work for them in their Mixed Martial Arts strategies.

For those of you who haven't heard of Cindy Dandois as of yet you are truly missing out. I had the honor to do an interview with Cindy not too long ago and not only is she a up and coming Female MMA fighter from Belgium, but she is also an accomplished Judoka internationally. She has a great personality and was great to talk with during this interview. She is driven and continues to fight like a "Battlecat" every chance she gets. Cindy also has her sights set on one day fighting Gina Carano and Cyborg. So Gina or Cyborg if you are out there and you are reading this interview let me know what you think. Last but not least I just wanted to say Thank You one more time to Cindy for this great interview and for taking time out of her busy schedule to do this interview with me. So without further a due let's meet Cindy.
